Killer looks and six pack abs are not easy to come by, and to flaunt a toned body, some people want to get there quicker minus the sweat and starvation. Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery aims at providing a quick-fix solution to ‘matters of fat’ artistically. “Increasing awareness about health and wellness has led to people in Bengaluru, seeking solutions to look good and feel great, and in the process transform their personas. As part of the wellness services domain, we have been observing that more people are now seeking body shaping and sculpting solutions within the weight management arena,” says, Sandeep Ahuja,  managing director of VLCC.
And, with such matters of people cutting on fat and going under the knife to sport a killer body, they also find it quite tricky to maintain them.
“Body sculpting lies in the attitude that some of us find it difficult to cut on fat through exercise and diet. No matter how much we train and cut on ‘carbs’ we still find it difficult to maintain professional requirements given by designers and filmmakers. So, such methods are undertaken to curtail the issue,” says Irene, (name changed) a model who has undergone liposuction.
What many do not realise is the aftermath of the treatment. Professional model Abrar, believes one has to take pride in one’s body and says it is quite difficult to maintain it. “It comes with a lot of restrictions and they might eventually grow out of it. It is hard and risky moreover, one can easily identify when it is natural and cosmetic.” He also adds, that the practice is mainly undergone by Iranian models, who come into the fashion industry for work.
Explaining about the maintenance, behind the six-pack figure, Dr Khadeja who works with DR GVG Aesthetic Clinic says, “It is a life altering procedure and people need to follow the necessary steps to take care. They should maintain a balanced diet and also focus on the right exercise regimes. It depends on what procedure one undergoes — for example ,fragmentation, liposuction and treatment changes with each procedure.” Adding to that Dr. Kumar says, “Some people might gain extra pounds that they shed, so it is necessary to wear compression garments. They also have to begin with gentle walking exercises, more than rigourous and routine workouts.” Unless maintained these procedures pose alarming problems in health issues which might sometimes lead to life long damages.
