Are you a ‘model’ man?
First impressions
If you think you notice women’s physical assets while they’re admiring the epic awesomeness of your intellectual depth, perish the thought! Spruce up fellas, this is an equal world: hot women like hot men. Most of the models we spoke to said they first notice a man’s physical attributes — height, looks, muscles (or the lack of them!) and other body parts. A good physique is paramount, though beefy — especially if you don’t have height to match — is unconditionally out. Ukrainian model Anna Yatskiv says she first notices a man’s hands! You know the old wives’ tale; we’ll say no more. While you make a determined effort to keep those digits groomed, hope to meet more models like Hyderabadi hottie Dharmika Rao, who says she first notices a man’s manners and gentleness
To go fuzz free or not — that’s the question
We got a mixed bag of responses from our models to this one! While most recommend that you don’t grow a jungle on your face (unless you’re George Clooney or Johnny Depp) there are some who find themselves floored by well-groomed but bountiful facial hair. The petite Edna Gonzalez admits that the first thing she notices about a man is his beard!
Digging deeper
If you’ve made a kickass first impression, don’t expect to have won your woman over already. The sexiest women expect a man to be kind, chivalrous and… wait for it… honest. Phonies, kindly stay away! The sultry Parvathy Omanakuttan tells us that prospective suitors need to have a sense of humour and be able to make her laugh. This does not include cheesy pickup lines and jokes stolen from your Twitter feed. Sensitivity, intelligence, personality, an adventurous spirit (they aren’t referring to the bar, yet!) and the ability to be yourself, are other must-have traits. Of course, if you’re with a model, a highly coveted trait she’s looking for is self-confidence. Jealous blokes, go turn green elsewhere!

Short-changed?
Given the reams of paper and film dedicated to the ‘Beauty vs. Geek’ phenomenon, we asked our ramp-scorchers if they’d ever date a shorter man. Of course, you know we’re talking about women who stand at an average of 5 feet 8 inches, sometimes towering at 6 feet! Surprisingly, most of the girls wouldn’t mind if he’s a “nice fellow.” Some of them are even willing to give up their high heels. Then again, some call it like it is! Like Sheela Tiruchi (a statuesque 5’11) who ponders the question and then, very honestly, admits that she won’t!

Metrosexual manners
Remember gorgeous Daniel from MasterChef Australia’s currently-on-air season? Why would such a pretty boy spend all his screen-time togged out like a super-sweet meringue? Our girls like a well-groomed man, not a boy who dusts his under-eye area with a foundation as pale as sugar! Make-up ace Kapil Bhalla has some advice for men who aren’t sure whether or not to experiment with make-up. Moisturise your face before applying very little concealer or foundation. Always use a shade darker than your own skin tone. Use a matte bronzer to sculpt and shade your features. Use a facial mist to set make-up and to avoid looking made up. Also, do this only for a night event. During the day, go bare. On the face, we mean!
